After several years of operating a small home decor retail shop out of an Airstream trailer, Megan Silva decided to open an interior design business in New Braunfels.
Silva, who opened Parker Home & Design in October 2023, said she always had a passion for interior design and helping people fully realize their living spaces. She made the jump to interior design to focus on client collaboration.
“I just wasn’t into the retail side of things,” she said. “I wanted to help design the actual spaces themselves.”

The specifics
By collaborating directly with homeowners and clients, Silva said she is able to capture the vision and feel of any space.
“I do think that [interior design] should be a reflection of personal style, and it should be a collaborative process,” she said.
Parker Home & Design offers consultations, planning and e-design services for residents across Comal County and New Braunfels.
While Silva said some clients let her “take the design and run” without any input, she prefers to work directly with them to come up with a plan that has design ideas from several perspectives. Rather than “breaking the bank,” Silva said there are various ways to make the home decorating process more affordable.
“If you’re just maybe thinking about doing something, it doesn’t have to be a full renovation of your home,” Silva said.
To spruce up the interior of a living space, Silva said she recommends browsing Pinterest, visiting a local thrift store or finding a secondhand gift from a family member or friend.
“You can find some truly amazing pieces while thrifting,” she said. “I’ve seen people finding cool art and decor.”
The outlook
In the future, Silva said she will continue serving Central Texans from Austin to San Antonio and explore growth whenever possible.
“I would really like to focus on getting to know more people here and really focusing on this area,” Silva said. “Then, we’ll think about more.”
