New Braunfels ISD school board approves 2023-24 school calendar

New Braunfels ISD approved the 2023-24 school calendar Feb. 13 during the regular monthly board of trustees meeting.

NBISD will start school Aug. 21, and the last day of school will be May 23, 2024.

The calendar includes several holidays, early-release dates, staff work days and professional development days. Holidays include:

• Sept. 4: Labor Day
• Sept. 29: Comal County Fair Day
• Nov. 20-24: Thanksgiving break
• Dec. 18-Jan. 1: winter break
• Jan. 15: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
• March 11-15: spring break
• March 29: Good Friday

Feb. 19 and April 1 are also staff and student holidays but can be used as bad-weather makeup days. Oct. 9, Nov. 10, Feb. 16 and March 18 will be student holidays and staff work or professional development days.

There will be an early dismissal for all grade levels on the last day of each semester, which will be Dec. 15 and May 23. On those two dates, students will be released three hours early, and buses will be on their afternoon routes three hours early.
