A growing demand for Christian education is leading New Braunfels Christian Academy, or NBCA, officials to expand its campus, NBCA Head of Schools Nick Reeves said.
“I think there is a growing desire for Christian education,” Reeves said. “As more people have become aware of New Braunfels Christian Academy and as we have grown in what we’re able to offer ... more people want to be part of it,” Reeves said.

NBCA board members finalized the academy’s “first-ever” strategic plan at the beginning of 2023, Reeves said. The plan included the addition of various positions, educational spaces and increased teacher pay.
The second rendition of NBCA’s strategic plan includes an elementary building, fine arts complex, relocated softball field and baseball field.
“Currently, our baseball team has to travel and play and practice elsewhere on local community fields. So, it would be really great to get one on campus that our teams could use and that we could rent out to local organizations,” Reeves said.
The projects identified in the plan will cost about $30 million, Reeves said.
The need
NBCA has grown by 80% overall in the last 6 years. The expansion will enable the school to serve families with children from six weeks old through graduation, Reeves said. The academy currently serves only Pre-K3 through 12th grade.
“We’re kind of using the term, from diapers to diplomas,” he said.
Reeves said the expansion will also enable NBCA to enroll between 1,100 and 1,200 students in total. The academy has 750 students enrolled for the 2026-27 school year.
The bigger picture
As of Aug. 20, about 160 families enrolled or reenrolled their children at NBCA after receiving about $1.4 million in financial assistance from the Texas Education Freedom Account, or TEFA.
TEFA, created by Texas lawmakers in 2025, provides families with state funds to send their children to private schools or to homeschool them, as previously reported by Community Impact.
Over half of the families who received TEFA funds at NBCA already had students attending the academy, but some of those families were working multiple jobs to keep their kids there.
Reeves said TEFA is a “huge blessing” to families, helping them offset tuition costs and afford Christian education.
