Comal ISD approved the recommendation to amend the approved 2023-24 academic calendar by moving the bad-weather makeup days from the end of the academic calendar year to earlier in the year.
The district made the recommendation to allow for more efficient use of the days. Superintendent John Chapman said that although the original calendar for the upcoming school year was initially approved back in January 2023, the district thought it would be beneficial to learn from the school cancellations caused by the February 2023 winter storm.
“I hate bringing the calendar back to you in May but there was some circumstances that took place and again I'm grateful {Texas Education Agency approving] that waiver,” Chapman said. “So we are making these changes with minimal disruption to the calendar that was already approved.”
