Joan Guerrero, a native of Manila, Philippines, said she wanted to bring her culture and delicious food to New Braunfels, which is why she opened Peace.Love.Lumpia.
“We wanted to bring that taste of the Philippines to the area,” Guerrero said.
Guerrero said her mother, Jennifer Salas, and her husband, Daniel helped her open the food truck.
“We started off by selling Lumpias to friends and family and kind of grew from there,” Guerrero said.
Peace.Love.Lumpia's semi-permanent location is located at 820 W. Nacogdoches St. The food truck also does pop-ups across the San Antonio area.
Peace.Love.Lumpia sells authentic Filipino food made by Guerrero's mother—which she learned while growing up in Manila. The locally owned food truck serves Lumpias, which is a Filipino spring roll filled with meat and vegetables, Guerrero said.
The lumpia bowl ($13.99) comes with six rolls and a half scoop of pancit, which is a mix of rice noodles, chicken and vegetables. Peace.Love.Lumpia also offers a pork adobo bowl, which is made with garlic fried rice and soy sauce-soaked pork.
“It’s real savory, and it can be either a bowl or a plate with more sides,” she said.
Peace.Love.Lumpia also sells Ube cookies, which is a purple yam-based cookie topped with powdered sugar.
“We always hope that these don’t sell out so we can take them home for ourselves,” Guerrero said.
In the future, Guerrero said the ultimate goal is to open a brick-and-mortar somewhere in New Braunfels to further support her loyal customers.
“Overall, we literally want to spread peace, love and lumpias to the area,” Guerrero said.
