New COVID-19 cases in Comal County continue to decline as local coronavirus-related deaths rise to 532

On March 4, Comal County reported 19 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the county total to 30,256 since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.

The county reported 204 new cases from Feb. 28-March 4, down from 343 reported the week of Feb. 21-27.

County hospitals on March 4 reported caring for nine COVID-19 patients, down from 20 on Feb. 25.

Hospitals reported three of the patients were in intensive care, and three were on ventilators as of March 4. According to the county, 58% of the patients in county hospitals with COVID-19 are not fully vaccinated.

As of March 4, 63.79% of Comal County residents are fully vaccinated, and 37,567 have received a booster dose.

In Guadalupe County, 57.33% of residents are fully vaccinated, and 32,939 have received a booster dose.

COVID-19 testing sites are available throughout the region, and many area pharmacies and health care providers offer vaccination appointments. Home testing kits are also available at some in-person and online retailers.
