The Golden Pineapple relocated to 444 E. San Antonio St. in New Braunfels inside 444 Tubing Company at the beginning of June.
The restaurant was previously located at the New Braunfels Farmers Market and has been in the area for several years.
Owner Christelle Chalmers said they were working to bring their clientele to their new location, which overlooks the Comal River.
"They've had an empty restaurant lot there for literally a decade, so we took it over and we opened," Chalmers said.
Chalmers, who is originally from Haiti, did missionary work in Asia, which led her to adapt her cooking to have a fusion of Caribbean and Asian cuisine. But then she noticed beef bulgogi, one of her favorite Korean dishes, was made differently in the U.S.
"It was too sweet, or they got something wrong. So, I figured with the spices from Haiti, which is a pure balance of herbs and salt, why not combine them? So out of that was birthed The Golden Pineapple," Chalmers said.
Chalmers said everything is made from scratch with no preservatives or MSG. The Golden Pineapple sells a variety of French Island and Asian dishes, including Caribbean salmon poke and Haitian Korean steak kabob. The restaurant also offers gluten-free options with a variety of sides, drinks and desserts.
