The Texas Department of Transportation released a virtual public hearing June 11 about the 7.2-mile project on State Highway 5.
The $138 million project would reconstruct and widen several roads in McKinney and Fairview. Adjacent sidewalks are also part of the proposed plan, according to the public hearing video.
The proposed project could potentially displace four commercial establishments, according to the video. The specific commercial displacements were not named.
The changes are needed for improvements to safety and mobility, according to the hearing video. Additionally, the project would bring the highway up to current design and safety standards.
