[caption id="attachment_92181" align="alignright" width="700"]Farm Aid 2015 Farm Aid 2015 will honor three local businesses at this year's event.[/caption] On Thursday, Oct. 8, several local businesses, business owners and residents will come together for An Evening with Farm Aid, a fundraising event aimed at raising money to keep local farmers on their land. Kaci Lyford, co-owner of downtown McKinney's Patina Green Home and Market, said the event only takes place in limited numbers across the country each year. The event will feature meals by Patina Green co-owner and chef Robert Lyford and Experimental Table's chef George Brown, who will both be using locally sourced ingredients from North Texas farms. “Kaci and I are excited that Farm Aid is coming back to North Texas to show support for our local farm community," Lyford said. "Last year’s event was a huge success, and we are thrilled to be part of it again. ‘An Evening with Farm Aid’ gives us an opportunity to celebrate the farmers and all that they do for us.” Three local family owned and operated farms  including Local Yocal, Cartermere Farms, and Full Quiver Farms will be honored for providing the community with natural, locally grown foods. The event will feature live music by Jamestown Revival and the Secret Sisters and will take place on an historic farm turned venue, Rustic Grace Estate, 13299 FM 121, Van Alstyne. Tickets purchased for “An Evening with Farm Aid” will benefit Farm Aid’s grant program to keep family farmers on the land, growing good food for all of us.
