A first floor apartment fire in the 4400 block of Eldorado Parkway this week resulted in critical burn injuries to an elderly female. McKinney Fire Dispatch received a call April 30 from the resident who said her chair was on fire and she was unable to escape.
The first units to arrive found and rescued the individual who was then flown via medical helicopter to Parkland Hospital Burn Unit. She remains in intensive care.
"McKinney lost two residents in a home fire last week; and, today another is critically injured," said Fire Chief Danny Kistner in a press release. "Take your safety seriously. Fire is everyone's fight."
MFD spokesperson Stacie Durham said this is the second residential fire in McKinney in eight days that resulted in critical injuries to two residents, as well as two fatalities.
