The Family Health Center at Virginia Parkway, a McKinney-based federally qualified health center, or FQHC, is slated to open in a new, larger facility in late summer 2020.
FQHC is a community-based health care provider that receives funds from the U.S. Health Resources & Services Administration Health Center Program. It is intended to provide primary care services in underserved areas and to patients who are uninsured and underinsured. FQHCs provide care on a sliding fee scale and operate under a government board.
In early May, construction work began going vertical for the upcoming health center, located at 1620 Virginia St., McKinney, according to Valerie Lengel, the marketing consultant for the Family Health Center at Virginia Parkway.
“We are very excited for this next phase of construction for the new facility,” she said in an email.
