Hospital systems in the McKinney area have seen various updates, including nationwide recognitions and expansion initiatives.

1. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-McKinney
The 192-bed hospital was awarded a Level III designation for its maternal care, a hospital representative said. The designation indicates that the hospital meets various requirements for its maternal care, including the ability to care for pregnant and postpartum patients with conditions that present a risk of maternal morbidity, according to the Texas Administrative Code. The hospital is also a designated Primary Stroke Center and Primary Heart Attack Center.
An expansion project that will add two new hospital floors and 84,000-square-feet of space is underway at the facility.
2. Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital-McKinneyThe facility, which operates as a separate hospital within Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-McKinney, offers eight patient beds and specializes in comprehensive heart and vascular health, a hospital representative said. The Heart Hospital offers noninvasive and minimally invasive cardiovascular care, cardiac catheterization services, emergency cardiac care and access to clinical trials, the hospital’s website states.
3. Medical City McKinneyThe 311-bed hospital earned a 2026 Magnet with Distinction designation for nursing excellence, a May 28 news release states.
The distinction recognizes “superior patient care, nursing leadership and innovations in professional nursing practice,” the release states. Medical City McKinney offers cardiovascular and neurological services, general and robotic surgery, orthopedics, women’s services, a neonatal intensive care unit, a Level II Trauma Center and more.
4. Methodist Hospital McKinneyThe hospital, which opened in February 2010, received recognition from The Joint Commission, according to an Aug. 4 Facebook post. The award recognizes the hospital’s Disease-Specific Core Certification in spine surgery and Advanced Certification for hip and knee surgery, the post states.
The 23-bed hospital has six operating rooms and offers a variety of inpatient and outpatient surgeries, its website states, including general surgery, orthopedics, spine and more.
