The newly renovated Roy and Helen Hall Memorial Library will open this December in downtown McKinney.
McKinney’s Public Library System announced the grand opening in an Oct. 21 Facebook post. The library has been closed since June 2025 for a $20 million renovation project to change its layout. The new layout will improve access to library materials and create youth- and teen-specific spaces, according to the city’s website.
Renovations will also add a planetarium capable of holding 55 people and a 2,500-square-foot exhibit space that can host traveling museum exhibits. A city spokesperson confirmed the library will open Dec. 1, followed by a grand opening celebration to be held 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Dec. 5.
