McKinney’s Red, White and Boom event celebrating Independence Day is returning this weekend with live music, a parade and a fireworks show.

The free event will feature a parade and block party in downtown McKinney from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 4. Festivities will move to Towne Lake Park from 6-10 p.m. for a concert, and a drone and fireworks show, according to the city’s website.
The parade is scheduled to start at 10 a.m., and floats are expected to run north on Tennessee Street and south on Kentucky Street. Following the parade, the East Louisiana Block Party will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The fireworks show will take place at Towne Lake Park, located at 14015 Wilson Creek Parkway. The event starts at 6 p.m. and will include live music performances, and a drone and fireworks shows. The drone and fireworks show is expected to start at 9:40 p.m.
Fireworks will be launched from the Grady Littlejohn Softball Fields. Parking will be available at several lots around the area. Attendees can park at the following lots and catch a shuttle to Towne Lake Park:
- First McKinney Baptist Church, 1615 W. Louisiana St.
- Al Ruschhaupt Soccer Complex, 1986 Park View Ave.
Attendees can also park at the following lots and walk to the event:
- McKinney Senior Recreation Center, 1400 S. College St.
- Collin Central Appraisal District, 250 Eldorado Parkway
Parking will not be available at McKinney High School, according to the city’s website.
