1. Festival of Colors
Inspired by the ancient Indian festival of Holi, the Festival of Colors is a family-friendly experience featuring live music and DJs, traditional and contemporary dance performances, color throws, cultural showcases, food vendors and activities for all ages.
2. The Mystical Market
Shop local vendors, enjoy live music and try eats from food trucks at the outdoor market in downtown McKinney.

3. 2026 Veolia Texas Open
The Professional Pickleball Tour event will return to The Courts of McKinney for a weeklong event of pickleball. The event will feature a number of players on the tour as they compete to earn PPA points and look ahead to the PPA Finals, including Anna Leigh Waters, Ben Johns, Blaine Hovenier, Michael Loyd, Tyson McGuffin and more. Amateur players registration is open until March 7, and pickleball camps are also available.
4. Guided Historic Walking Tour
McKinney’s Historic Preservation Office and Visit McKinney partner to offer a walking tour of the historic district on the second Tuesday of each month. All tours leave from the Visitors Center.
5. Shamrock Run 5K
The ninth annual Shamrock Run 5K will be held at Towne Lake Park. Participants ages 21 and over can also enjoy a complimentary green beer from Tupps Brewery after the race.
6. Dragon Trails Grand Opening Celebration
The Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary is opening its newest exhibit, “Dragon Trails.” Reservations required for all guests.
7. Millhouse Makers Market
The Millhouse Foundation is hosting an indoor shopping experience at the McKinney Cotton Mill. Guests can purchase handmade goods, original artwork, jewelry, home decor and small-batch specialty items.
8. Mozart with the McKinney Philharmonic Orchestra
As part of the orchestra’s Masterworks Series Concerts, the McKinney Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a program of all Mozart music, including Clarinet Concerto in A Major performed on clarinet by Steven Robinson.
9. McKinney Prom Closet Shopping Days
Teen girls looking for a prom dress can visit the McKinney Prom Closet at Stonebridge United Methodist Church to find a dress. The closet is open during select times over a four-day period and offers dresses and shoes for free. Donations of cocktail dresses, formal gowns, shoes and accessories are accepted on select dates, per the organization’s website.
10. McKinney Historic Half Marathon
Hosted by Tupps Brewery, this event includes a half-marathon, 5K and a children’s 100-meter dash. All proceeds will go to Scottish Rite for Children of Frisco.
11. Dallas Country Music and Arts Festival
The festival will kick off in McKinney with performances by Country Music Association award-winning artists and Billboard Top 10 artists. The McKinney lineup includes Billie Jo Jones, Wesley Pruitt, Flat River Band and Jake Bush on March 28; and Matt Castillo, Will Carter Band and Colby Lee Swift on March 29. The event will also include visual artists, a farmers market and food and beverage vendors. Subsequent festival dates are planned for Grapevine and Coppell, as well as Plano, the event website states.
