Lite-On Technology Corp. officials held a groundbreaking ceremony in August for the company's planned manufacturing facility in McKinney.
The ceremony marks the “official start” of building out a space at the Core5 Logistics Center in McKinney, a McKinney Economic Development Corp. news release states. The $919 million project was announced earlier this summer and is expected to create 600 jobs over the next several years.

Lite-On has purchased two existing buildings spanning more than 650,000 square feet at Core5. Company officials are now building out the space and installing specialized equipment for the manufacturing facility, according to the news release.
The new campus will support a range of manufacturing, operational and engineering activities. New job positions are expected to span engineering, advanced manufacturing and corporate operations. Construction on part of the campus could be completed by August 2027, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Lite-On expects to begin hiring for the campus as renovations are completed. Positions will open in phases over the next several years.
