Officials with the Houston-based real estate investment firm Williamsburg Enterprises have announced a new tenant coming to the North Cypress Landing development at the northeast corner of Barker Cypress Road and Hwy. 290 in Cypress. Star Furniture & Mattresses will be taking over a 70,000-square-foot space formerly occupied by Randalls, according to a Nov. 29 press release. The Randalls grocery store operated at the intersection for decades before being sold by parent company Safeway in May. Star Furniture signed a 10-year lease for the space in July and is expected to open in the first quarter of 2019, Williamsburg officials said. The gas station at the intersection formerly run by Randalls was converted into a Timewise location, which opened in September. Williamsburg already owns several other properties at the Barker Cypress Road and Hwy. 290 intersection, including the 160,000-square-foot Cypress Marketplace, which is located across Barker Cypress Road and is anchored by H-E-B. The firm has also proposed the development of 68,000-square-feet of space on an 8-acre tract of land to the west of H-E-B. Officials with Star Furniture did not immediately respond to request for comment.
