North Cypress Medical Center closes freestanding emergency room in Fairfield

Following the purchase of North Cypress Medical Center, HCA Houston Healthcare closed the freestanding North Cypress Emergency Room – Fairfield at 15103 Mason Road, Cypress.

“The decision was made as a result of pre-purchase research findings that it was in an over-saturated market with limited patient reach,” Laura Littlejohn, director of north quadrant strategic communications for HCA Gulf Coast Division, told Community Impact Newspaper.

Employees have been transferred to other facilities within HCA Houston Healthcare, according to officials. The recent acquisition included three others North Cypress Medical Center freestanding emergency rooms—located at 26271 Hwy. 290, Cypress; 22475 Hwy. 249, Houston; and 9645 Barker Cypress Road, Cypress. www.northcypresser.com

  1. Too bad they didn’t turn it into a critical care center. That is what this area really needs. Many people just need to be seen by a doctor for advise, not an emergency room procedure (or charge).
