Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar announces official opening date at Cypress Crossing

California-based Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar will open July 31 at Cypress Crossing, 20030 Hwy. 290, Houston, according to a press release.

Dishes on the menu include burgers, sandwiches, salads and specialties such as bacon-wrapped bison meatloaf, campfire pot roast, wok-fired calamari and seared ahi tuna salad. A cocktail list features the hibiscus margarita and the smoked maple bacon old fashioned, among others.

Inspired by the Rocky Mountain Wyoming landscape, the eatery’s interior features fireplaces, wood accents and a chandelier crafted from Aspen logs. Flat-screen TVs are located throughout the bar and patio area, and a dog-friendly patio offers a special menu for dogs.

A Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting will take place at 10:30 a.m., and the restaurant will open to the public at 11 a.m.

Why am I having a love/hate relationship with a restaurant down the street that hasn’t even opened yet??? First, I got real excited while it was being built, as the top looked like it would be a pagoda… Hot dog! A new Asian cuisine joint! Then I read something about the menu… Hot dog??? Then I just read that the ambiance is Wyoming inspired – easily in my top 50 favorite states… seriously one of my most memorable. Then when I read about the variety of menu items, I am now truly excited about being there for the opening, as well as my birthday, 8/12. Advance notice given for security to plan keeping the paparazzi at bay… and to get in a shipment of those little paper umbrellas… to be continued…
