Medical City Frisco will have the capability to deliver babies this month.

Medical City Frisco has expanded its women’s services to include 13 luxury delivery and recovery rooms. The unit, which officially opens Oct. 15, will also feature a six-bed, Level II neonatal intensive care unit with three dedicated cesarean section operating rooms and a 10-bed nursery.

The hospital began construction of the unit on the third and fourth floors in January.

The hospital will have an event Oct. 11 from 5-7:30 p.m. for women in the area to tour the facility and meet with OB-GYN physicians. There will also be information available about breastfeeding support, childbirth classes and free infant CPR classes.

Since opening in April 2016, Medical City Frisco’s services have grown to include a cardiac catherization lab along with an expanded emergency department, surgical robots and additional specialty surgical services, including weight loss surgery.

There are additional plans for the hospital to build a five-story medical office building and surgery center just south of the hospital. Construction will begin in November, and the building will open at the end of 2019.
