IDEA cuts ribbon on Kyle’s first charter school

IDEA Public Schools, a statewide charter school network, officially cut the ribbon on its Kyle campus, 640 Philomena Drive, on Sept. 20. It joins three previously existing Austin-area locations as well as the Pflugerville campus that opened in August for the 2018-19 school year.

Two IDEA schools, the Academy and College Prep, will operate in Kyle under the philosophy that all children should have the opportunity to go to college.

The IDEA Kyle campus started classes Aug. 13 with 450 students in grades K-2 and sixth grade; it is currently accepting applications for the 2019-20 school year.

IDEA is the first charter school to open in the Kyle-Buda area; Doral Academy Texas plans to open for the 2020-21 school year.
