Parts of Chinn Chapel Road in Flower Mound to close as part of the Waketon Road project

The southbound lanes of Chinn Chapel Road between Chapel Hill Drive and Waketon Road are closed as of May 16.

The lanes of Chinn Chapel Road are scheduled to open on June 7, weather permitting, according to a Flower Mound town news release.

The westbound Waketon Road lane closure between Kings Road and Chinn Chapel Road remains in place. Waketon Road in Double Oak is expected to reopen in August, according to the release.

The Waketon Road project is an $8.47 million joint project with the Town of Double Oak. The overall project limits are from Cross Timbers Drive in Double Oak to Parkesdale Drive in Flower Mound, according to the release.

The Flower Mound section of the project includes the upgrade of the existing two-lane asphalt roadway to a two-lane urban collector street section with an enclosed storm drainage system, according to the release. The project also includes the installation of a roundabout at the Waketon Road and Chinn Chapel Road intersection.

The overall project is scheduled to be complete in the fall.
