Flower Mound hires new fire chief

Flower Mound announced the hiring of its new fire chief, Paul Henley, who has been head of the Corsicana Fire Department for more than 3 1/2 years.

Henley's first day in Flower Mound will be Oct. 18, according to an Oct. 6 news release.

“We had 47 well-qualified applicants, and Chief Henley rose to the top," interim Town Manager Debra Wallace said in the release. "He has a proven track record as a servant leader, and the selection panel was impressed with his experience, his professionalism, his devotion to customer service, and his dedication to building trust, consensus, and teamwork within the fire departments he has served.”

Henley has 19 years of experience in fire service, having also worked for fire departments in Garland and Frisco. He replaces Eric Greaser, who retired July 2 after more than seven years as Flower Mound's fire chief.

According to the news release, Henley was the 2021 Texas Fire Chiefs Association Chief of the Year for his work in Corsicana and Navarro County, particularly with planning in the early stages of the pandemic. He also received the Corsicana and Navarro County Chamber of Commerce's Tom White Citizen of the Year Award and was named Explore Corsicana Magazine's 2021 Person of the Year, the release stated.

“The men and women of the Flower Mound Fire Department are highly respected across the state, and it’s an honor to be able to work with them,” Henley said in the release. “I am looking forward to getting started and working alongside my colleagues in emergency services to ensure the safety of the lives and property of all those who call Flower Mound home.”
