A grand opening for Lewisville's new Thrive Nature Park is set for Aug. 28.
About 99% of construction at the 21-acre park has been completed, according to a July 12 presentation to City Council.
The park features "native Texas forest and prairie with trails and opportunities for environmental education and play," according to the city's website.
The $1.59 million park was developed with the help of a $500,000 grant from the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. It features a concrete perimeter trail, a soft surface interior trail, picnic areas, outdoor classrooms, nature play areas and a bird blind, the website stated.
