Highland Village delays community build for Kids Kastle until 2021

The community build for Highland Village's Kids Kastle is delayed once again due to the coronavirus pandemic, this time until 2021.

"We were hopeful we could complete Phase 2 of the build this summer, however with the current state of COVID-19 in the North Texas area we must postpone the community build portion of the project,” Parks and Recreation Director Phil Lozano said in a July 7 release.

The build, originally scheduled for March, had been rescheduled for July 20-25, as previously reported by Community Impact Newspaper.

Now, the city is working with consultant Play by Design to find a time in early 2021 for the community event.

“The residents of Highland Village desire to complete this project as a community build, and we will honor their wishes when it is safe to do so,” Lozano said.

This build will be the second phase of construction for the play area. The first was completed by city staff, construction workers and Play by Design consultants in May.
