Highland Village City Manager Michael Leavitt announced in a statement March 11 that he will retire this fall after working for the city for two decades.
Leavitt first joined city staff in 2000 as the public works director and was later appointed city manager in 2003.
“Mike has always led the city with the belief that a positive difference can be made in someone’s life each and every day,” Mayor Charlotte Wilcox said in a statement. “He has lived out this principle in his own career and, by example, has created a staff dedicated to the service of Highland Village residents, businesses and visitors ... He will surely be missed.”
Leavitt, who will officially retire Oct. 1, stated he will remain fully engaged in the upcoming budget process to lay the groundwork for the next city manager.
