Flower Mound now accepting applications for town council Place 1 seat

Applicants must be:

• A qualified voter in the town
• 21 years old or older
• A resident of the town for at least one year
• Not employed by the town of Flower Mound
• Not hold any other public office except for that of a notary public or a member of the National Guard, military reserve, or Coast Guard reserve

Interviews will be at the discretion of the council. Applicant interviews will take place on May 25 and June 2, and an official appointment could be made on either of those dates. These dates are subject to change.

The criteria and process selected were discussed before the public as part of the May 17 regular meeting of the town council

The council was presented with three options for filling the vacancy: appointing any individual without an application process, appointing an individual following an application and interview process, and filling the position with a special election. The final option to hold a special election would have cost the city $20,000.
