Deadline approaching to register to vote in Nov. 2 election in Texas

Those interested in casting a ballot in the Nov. 2 election in Texas have until Oct. 4 to register to vote. The deadline also applies to those needing to make changes to their name or address on voter registration rolls.

People must be registered to vote in the county where they live.

Those unsure whether their voter information is correct can use this link to check their registration.

The Nov. 2 election includes eight propositions to amend the state constitution. There are also a host of local elections, including bond measures in Tarrant County, Richardson, Lewisville and Carroll ISD; a ballot measure in Keller; and a special election to fill a seat on the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD board of trustees.

Early voting begins Oct. 18 and runs through Oct. 29.

To be eligible to vote in Texas, applicants must:

• be a U.S. citizen;
• be a resident of the county where the application is submitted;
• be 18 years of age on Election Day;
• not be a convicted felon (some may be eligible to vote if they have completed their sentence, probation, and parole); and
• not have been declared by a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be either totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
