Lewisville to discuss continuation of disaster declaration

Lewisville City Council expects to discuss the continuation of its disaster declaration at its July 6 meeting.

The declaration was set to expire July 6, but with updated recommendations from the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, council sees good reason to extend the resolution, according to the city's agenda.

The extension will also allow for continued suspension of utility disconnections, which was included in the initial disaster declaration.

Mayor Rudy Durham initially declared a local state of disaster March 13.

A discussion regarding a city mandate of face coverings was also set to take place July 6. Gov. Greg Abbott ordered all Texans to begin wearing face coverings in public spaces July 2, as reported by Community Impact Newspaper.
