Lewisville man dies due to COVID-19, marking the 18th Denton County coronavirus death

Denton County Public Health announced April 21 that a Lewisville man in his 60s has died due to COVID-19, bringing the county’s total number of coronavirus-related deaths to 18.

“As we report the loss of an eighteenth life to COVID-19 in Denton County today, please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers,” Denton County Judge Andy Eads said in a statement. “We know that each life lost to COVID-19 is one too many.”

Officials also announced that an additional 21 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed locally, bringing the county’s total number of confirmed cases to 619.

So far, 258 residents who were diagnosed with the virus have recovered, and 343 cases remain active, according to public health officials.

Twenty-eight Flower Mound residents, nine Highland Village residents and 44 Lewisville residents have tested positive for the virus.

Lewisville City Council voted April 20 to extend its disaster declaration for a public health emergency through May 4. Flower Mound Town Council voted the same day to extend its disaster declaration through May 18.

Both declarations are in alignment with state and county orders.
