Denton County COVID-19 cases by age and location

As Texas sees an increase in reported positive COVID-19 tests, Gov. Greg Abbott has taken action to shutdown bars and reduce restaurant capacity to 50% as well as require the use of face masks in public spaces.

This increase in cases has also been evident in Denton County, where the largest number of daily cases since the virus was first recorded jumped from 54 one day in late March to 115 cases in a day June 24.

On July 2, 81 new cases were reported by Denton County Public Health, bringing the countywide total to 3,032 confirmed cases. Of those, 1,190 were reported as recovered.

In the week of May 3-9, at the beginning of reopening the state, there were roughly 2,400 tests given, 115 of which were positive. The week of June 21-27, nearly 4,000 tests were given and 517 were reported as positive for the virus.

The majority of Denton County's cases come from Denton and Lewisville, which make up the largest portion of the county's population. In Lewisville there have been 539 confirmed cases as of July 2, with 233 recoveries.

In Highland Village, there have been 24 total cases, 13 of which have recovered; in Flower Mound, there have been 131 cases and 50 people have recovered.

The majority of cases in Denton County are aged 20-29, a shift from earlier COVID-19 trends. The next highest categories include those between ages 30-49. All of the deaths involving people who tested positive for the virus in Denton County were people older than 39.

There have been 37 total deaths in the county.
