The Lewisville City Council has called four hearing dates to accept public comment on the proposed annexation of Castle Hills.
The public hearings will take place at 9 a.m. Oct. 9, at 6 p.m. Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. Nov. 1 and at 6 p.m. Nov. 8. The council is set to vote to extend Lewisville city limits to include Castle Hills at that final public hearing. The annexation would go into effect Nov. 15.
Annexation plans date back to the community’s conception in 1996, with a mutual agreement between Castle Hills developer Bright Realty and the city of Lewisville to have the community eventually join the city.
Castle Hills is governed by eight fresh water supply districts that handle general municipal services, such as water supply and maintenance, property taxes and emergency services such as police and fire response. All eight district boards have approved the amendment to the Strategic Partnership Agreement that would lead to the community's annexation into the city.
