Flower Mound names new interim town manager to replace retiring administrator

The town of Flower Mound has named Tommy Dalton as the new interim town manager to replace Debra Wallace, who will retire on Oct. 29.

Dalton currently serves as assistant town manager, a position he has held since August 2016. He has worked with the town since 2003 in a variety of roles, including planning manager and director of strategic services.

Dalton will officially begin his new job on Oct. 30 but has already been fulfilling some of the duties of town manager alongside Wallace, he said.

“The best part about the town organization is the team environment,” Dalton said in an email. “Debra, myself, and the town’s leadership team have been and will continue to transition roles and duties in preparation for her retirement on the 29th.”

Town Council voted on Dalton's appointment at the Oct. 18 meeting. Mayor Derek France and council members shared memories about Wallace and thanked her for her service. They also presented her with some parting gifts at what was her last council meeting.

Wallace, who also served as the town's chief financial officer, was appointed to the role of interim town manager on Sept. 8, 2020, after the previous town manager, Jimmy Stathatos, left to accept a job as city manager in Bedford. Wallace was then reaffirmed in that interim position in January as council paused its search for a new town manager. Before this role, Wallace also served as deputy town manager.

The search for town manager began again in July and is ongoing.
