Hebron High School honored late football coach David Brian Brazil and unveiled the renamed football stadium before the school's homecoming game Sept. 29. Brazil coached at the school for 23 years until his retirement in May 2022.
Brazil died July 5 and is survived by his wife, Birdie Brazil, and his three children, Danielle, Gabrielle and David Brazil, all of whom were present during the event.
A closer look
Brazil earned All-Southwest Conference honors during his college football career at Texas Christian University and played in the NFL with the Houston Oilers after graduation. Before serving Lewisville ISD, he began his coaching career in 1988 at Shepton High School in Plano, followed by RL Turner High School in Carrollton in 1989. Brazil was the Lewisville High School coach from 1992 for seven years until 1999, when Hebron High School opened.
