Lewisville ISD announced five upcoming information sessions about the proposed bond election and a voter-approval tax rate election. The announcement was made in a Sept. 26 post on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, that states the sessions will discuss the VATRE and the bond proposals and what the election will mean for the district.
The background
LISD voted to add the VATRE and the proposals to the Nov. 7 ballot during a board of trustees meeting Aug. 16, as previously reported by Community Impact. Early voting will start Oct. 23 and end Nov. 3. The tax rate election proposes lowering the total tax rate for the district, and includes additional funds for staff pay and instructional and extracurricular programs, such as career and technical training, fine arts and athletics. If approved, the tax rate election is estimated to generate $37.5 million for the district.
The remaining six bonds were developed by the One Vision Task Force, a group of 70 stakeholders that was formed in April. The propositions listed below will cost an estimated total of $1.2 billion:
