Williamson County will open River Ranch County Park to the public on July 22, after several years of planning, preparation and construction.
The details
- Located at 194 Reveille Way, Liberty Hill, the park spans over 1,354 acres offering a mixture of trails, green pasture, wildlife and access to the South Fork San Gabriel River toward the northeastern corner.
- Amenities include camping sites, an equestrian area, a pavilion, a playground, picnic tables, plenty of restrooms and parking, an interpretive center that includes exhibits and interesting park facts, and several trails.
- River Ranch County Park also features two massive trees: the Bell Oak and the San Gabriel Oak, which are both estimated to be 500 years old.
- Visitors can experience elevated views of the Hill Country at the Porcupine Overlook, the wildlife scene at Prairie Overlook or sights north of Liberty Hill at the Liberty Hill Overlook.
“As you step on the vast expanse of beauty, you will be immersed in a tapestry of natural wonders that will be carefully preserved for generations to come,” Commissioner Cynthia Long said at the July 21 ribbon-cutting ceremony. “Picture perfect distance awaits you at every turn, inviting you to pause and then embrace the awe-inspiring views that stretch as far as the eye can see.”
“I think, for me, parks are a place where I can pause and catch my breath, hear from God, discover clarity and have just an amazing sense of peace,” Judge Bill Gravell said. “This park that we're opening today is the crown jewel of the park systems in Texas.”
