Yellow House Foundation begins construction on new building in Leander

Due to Cedar Park’s Bell District development that is underway, the YHF lost its location of 18 years, the yellow house that sits in the cul-de-sac located at 120 Commercial Parkway, Cedar Park. The organization has been temporarily operating out of a building located at 501 S. Bell Blvd., Cedar Park, and will continue to do so until construction on the new building is completed.

Cromwell said the organization chose the property in Leander because it was affordable and central enough for all of the groups to continue their meetings.

Fundraising efforts for the new property are still ongoing. Last year, the YHF needed to raise $1.1 million to cover the $2.1 million total in construction costs, and now, Cromwell said, the organization still needs about $700,000.

“In addition to still needing to raise money to pay for the whole thing, we’re going to need some furnishings. We don’t have any budget right now for landscaping or anything like that,” he said. “We’re going to keep raising money because we need to give a little bit of a cushion.”

Cromwell said the new building is anticipated to be open Jan. 1.
