A roughly 40-acre sports complex featuring soccer fields, indoor sports facilities and a track is planned for a site near Northline in Leander.
The Leander City Council voted Sept. 17 to approve a letter of intent with youth sports organization CenTex Sports, according to a news release. The proposed complex would be located at 204 Heritage Grove Road, just off 183A Toll.
“CenTex Sports will offer retail and meeting spaces plus high-end facilities for athletes and families,” Mayor Na’Cole Thompson said in a statement. “Its economic impact will create even more prospects for our businesses and residents. We look forward to this vision becoming a reality, ensuring that Leander remains a vibrant and welcoming city full of opportunity.”
About the project
The planned complex would include:
A more than 150,000-square-foot indoor sports complex
At least four baseball or softball fields
Three soccer fields
A covered track
Four beach volleyball courts
The project would be built in two phases, with the first phase expected to cost $55 million. Construction on the project’s first phase must begin by the end of 2027 while construction on the project’s second phase must begin by the end of 2029, according to the company’s agreement with the city.

The letter of intent approved by Leander City Council is a step toward a potential Chapter 380 economic development agreement between the city and CenTex Sports, the news release states. Through Chapter 380 agreements, Texas cities can promote development through economic incentives like loans or grants.
The future agreement is expected to include clawback and other provisions intended to protect the city if CenTex Sports does not meet development obligations.
CenTex Sports organizes youth sports leagues, camps and clinics across the region. The company’s founder and operator, Adrian Chapa, is a Leander-area resident, according to the news release.
The proposed site is largely undeveloped and sits about a mile away from Northline. Improvements to Heritage Grove Road are included as part of the city's previously approved capital improvement program.
