Bloom and Leaf puts customers first, Malkemus said. She noted that she either has the company phone with her or leaves it with her husband during all operating hours.

Over 25 years of experience in the industry has instilled a knowledge base in Malkemus that enables her to present customers with a range of options and professional design advice.

“I chase that five-star review like crazy,” she said, noting that repeat, happy customers make running the business rewarding.

Bloom and Leaf offers a wide array of arrangements and flowers. Packages range from around $50 to hundreds of dollars, and she said she uses higher grade flowers the more upscale the request.

Malkemus said her favorite arrangements are when she gets to do a “designer’s choice,” receiving pricing and occasion parameters and then putting together what she thinks is the best design for the occasion.

She noted that she’s been called a “floral artist” for her creativity.
