Amid the continuation of harsh weather conditions, Eanes ISD and Lake Travis ISD have extended their school closures for the remainder of the week, according to Feb. 17 announcements from the districts. All classes and extracurricular activities have been canceled for both districts.
The closure is in effect for both in-person and remote classes at EISD and LTISD due to widespread power outages impacting Central Texas and the Greater Austin area.
“We are hearing from multiple parents and staff members that they continue to have issues with internet connectivity, electricity, and or water,” EISD Superintendent Tom Leonard said in a Feb. 17 statement. “Our campuses and facilities are losing some power, but thankfully there is no serious damage being reported.”
LTISD Superintendent Paul Norton encouraged families to check their campus websites for incoming updates from principals, coaches and other district leaders.
