March 17 classic car show to benefit Four Points family

When Manuel Brunet, owner of the vintage car dealership Motoreum, heard about the death of Russell Crawford and the Crawford family's financial situation, Brunet organized a classic car show to benefit the family.

"We wanted to give back to our community, and this [benefit] was a natural fit," Brunet said.

Crawford, a Round Rock High School graduate and former Marine, was the owner of Crawford's Tree Service in Steiner Ranch.

Brunet said he hopes to raise $5,000–$7,000 with the Driving to Give benefit. Each vehicle entered in the program will receive a container with which to collect donations during the event. Proceeds collected by each car will be totaled, with the vehicle raising the most money declared the overall winner in each division.

Division categories include Corvette, street rod, muscle, cruiser, exotic and foreign. All donations collected during the show, as well as 20 percent of the profit from cars sold at the event, will be presented to the Crawford family, he said.

The event is scheduled to run from 11 a.m.–5 p.m. March 17 in the parking lot of Galaxy Moviehouse & Eatery, 8300 N. RR 620; vehicle check-in is from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. The benefit is free to the public. The preregistration fee for vehicles is $20 until March 16 and $25 on the day of the event.
