Thon Overstreet named to the position by municipal court Jan. 27
Lakeway Municipal Court hired Thon Overstreet as its first city marshal Jan. 27. Overstreet will serve warrants and subpoenas, issue citations from the city's code enforcement department, serve as court bailiff and perform additional court-related duties.
"It became apparent that the court needed a full-time city marshal to serve the court's warrants on a daily basis and provide security to court personnel," Lakeway Municipal Judge Kevin Madison said in a news release.
Historically, serving city warrants was split between the court and police department.
The new position will work during flexible hours to enable Overstreet to work nights and weekends to ensure he can make contact with people who are not at their homes during the day.
