For several months, cities in the Lake Travis-Westlake region have been working to create fiscal year 2026-2027 city budgets by adjusting property tax rates, analyzing expenditures and revenues, and planning for their future.
As of Oct. 1, the approved budgets and tax rates are in effect.

1. Bee Cave
Bee Cave maintained its property tax rate at $0.0200 per $100 of valuation and approved its budget with a $1.49 million surplus.
The FY 2026-27 budget shows revenues for the city at roughly $14.3 million and expenses at $12.8 million.
Revenue from sales tax makes up almost 78% of the city’s revenue and exceeds the previous year’s budgeted amount by $600,000.
Residents may pay slightly less in property taxes than the previous year as the average taxable homestead value decreased in FY 2026-27 from $768,375 to $768,061.

2. Lakeway
Lakeway approved its budget with a $581,000 gap to be covered by savings and reserves.
The city also approved the no-new-revenue maintenance and operating tax rate at $0.1701 per $100 of valuation, a slight increase from the previous year’s tax rate at $0.1696.
According to city documents, the average homeowner's city property tax bill will increase by $29 annually under the M&O rate.
Under the city staff’s recommended de minimis rate, this increase would have been roughly $78 annually for the average homeowner from the previous year's rate, yet the budget shortfall would have been reduced to $201,000.

3. Rollingwood
Rollingwood City Council approved the FY 2026-27 budget and the actual no-new-revenue property tax rate of $0.196327 per $100 of assessed valuation, a slight decrease from the previous year’s rate of $0.202039 per $100.
Although the approved property tax rate has slightly decreased, some homeowners may pay more in property taxes than they did the previous year as the average homestead taxable value has increased.
The city is anticipating property taxes to contribute over $1.8 million to the budget, $69,000 more than the prior year, according to city documents.
In terms of expenditures, the largest sum went to the police department—a total of $1.89 million, which is a nearly $1 million decrease from the prior fiscal year's $2.87 million.

4. West Lake Hills
West Lake Hills’ FY 2026-27 budget shows revenues for the city at $8.95 million, with expenditures totaling $9.15 million, leaving a budget shortfall of roughly $196,000 without the use of the projected unrestricted general fund balance.
The city approved a no-new-revenue tax rate of $0.174896 per $100 of assessed valuation, a slight decrease from the previous year’s rate at $0.176783 per $100.
Although the approved property tax rate has decreased, some homeowners may pay more in property taxes than the previous year as the average appraised residence value increased by over $300,000.
