SAF Wine Bar & Nosh reopened in Lakeway in May following a remodel aimed at creating a more community-focused atmosphere, offering wine, small bites, live music and seasonal events.
The background
When owner Jon Graham moved to Lakeway from Maui nearly four years ago, he was looking for a way to engage with the community, he said.
With experience operating restaurants around the globe, Graham initially opened a wine bar with an emphasis on charcuterie boards, but found that the outcome was not what he had hoped for.
“Business was fine, but it didn’t accomplish what we set out to do, which was to meet the community,” Graham said. “[The restaurant] became strictly transactional. People would place an order online, pick it up and leave … that’s not why we did this.”
In December 2025, Graham decided to remodel the wine bar with an emphasis on creating a space for the community. In May, SAF Wine Bar & Nosh officially reopened.
“The whole concept here was to create a completely unpretentious wine bar,” Graham said. “People are here to have fun and enjoy themselves… . When a new person walks in, people welcome them… . It’s almost a ‘Cheers’-like atmosphere.”

On the menu
SAF Wine Bar & Nosh offers a wide variety of wines including 35 by the glass and 90 wines by the bottle.
The restaurant focuses on low-production, boutique wines from wineries across the world including France, South Africa, Spain, Italy, South America, Portugal and the United States.
Customer favorites include Spanish cava and sauvignon blancs, Graham said.
“This place allows people to come in and experience wines they may not have tried before, but not feel pressured to know everything about wine,” Graham said. “If they want to stick with house wines, we have great house wines, but if they want to try a bit more expensive glass, we have that too.”
Beyond the wine list, SAF Wine Bar & Nosh also offers beers on tap; “frosé,” or frozen rosé; and canned drinks.
For food, the wine bar has “nosh boards,” similar to meat and cheese plates, and other small bites including flatbreads, steak filets and truffle fries.

What else
SAF Wine Bar & Nosh hosts live music, featuring a variety of local musicians and genres.
"We have live music five nights a week... . We want to support the local musicians, so every musician is from the area," Graham said. “The range [of music] is anything from 60s music to country music to Sinatra.”
The wine bar also hosts seasonal events on the outdoor patio, accommodating nearly 150 people with a band, Graham said.
From October through June, SAF Wine Bar & Nosh also hosts bi-weekly salsa classes on Fridays.
