UPDATED: Water distribution sites open Feb. 19 in Humble, Kingwood

The event is hosted by the office of Houston Mayor Pro Tem Dave Martin, who represents District E in Kingwood. Families are limited to one case of water bottles per vehicle, and volunteers will place water in the backseat or trunks of cars to avoid contact during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a news release from Martin's office.

Several water distribution sites opened in Kingwood and Humble on Feb. 18; however, the sites are only open for a limited time. The sites are open to assist local families in need of fresh water during the winter storm due to loss of power or water.

Kingwood drive-thru site

A drive-thru water distribution event began 1:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at Kingwood First Baptist Church, located at 3500 Woodland Hills Drive, Kingwood. The event is hosted by the office of Houston Mayor Pro Tem Dave Martin, who represents District E in Kingwood.

According to a news release from Martin's office, families are limited to one case of water bottles or two one-gallon jugs of water per car, as there is a limited amount of water to distribute. Only those without access to clean water should attend the event, as there are only limited quantities of water, according to the news release.

As precautions against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, volunteers will place water in the backseat or trunks of cars to avoid contact.

Humble sites

Harris County Precinct 4 launched four water distribution sites across the precinct Feb. 18 to assist local residents.

Two of the events are in the Humble area—Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center at 20634 Kenswick Drive, Humble, and Lindsay/Lyons Park and Sports Complex at 2310 Atascocita Road, Humble—according to an email from Precinct 4 Commissioner Jack Cagle's office.

The other two are in Collins Park in Spring and Burroughs Park in Tomball.

The nonpotable water will be available until 5 p.m. at the sites, and supplies are limited to 10 gallons per person. However, recipients must bring their own containers for the water, such as milk jugs, ice chests and other containers, according to the email.
