Updated at 10:55 p.m. With 60 percent of precincts reporting, incumbent Sheila Jackson Lee has taken the lead in the Democratic primary for U.S. representative District 18 with 27,218, or 86.15 percent of votes. Challenger Richard A. Johnson III received 4,018 votes, or 13.62 percent of votes. Jackson Lee could not immediately be reached for comment through her communications office on election night. Published at 7:29 p.m. Polls closed at 7 p.m. in the primary election, and early voting results show incumbent Sheila Jackson Lee taking a lead in the Democratic primary for U.S. State Representative District 18 with 18,243 votes, or 87.4 percent of early and absentee votes. Challenger Richard A. Johnson III received 2,630 votes, or 12.6 percent of early and absentee votes. The winner will face Republican challenger Ava Reynero Pate, who is running unopposed in the primary election, in November.
