Lone Star College-Kingwood will celebrate the grand opening of its new health professions center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Feb. 22.
Located at 20000 Kingwood Drive, Kingwood, the new 49,440-square-foot facility features state-of-the-art medical spaces for the college's health care programs, including dental assisting, dental hygiene, nursing, occupation therapy assistant and respiratory care programs. Construction on the $18.8 million center began in spring 2020 and wrapped up in fall 2021.
"The HPC has state-of-the-art instructional spaces, which will allow many of our health care programs to grow," said David Baty, vice president of instruction at LSC-Kingwood, in a statement. "This center allows us to offer more biology, chemistry and anatomy/physiology classes in our science instructional building."
According to a Feb. 17 news release, facility highlights include simulation, virtual and cardiopulmonary labs; a 24-chair dental clinic; two skills labs with 11 hospital beds; a simulation lab with eight surgical areas, three ICU rooms, and a labor and delivery area; a life-skills teaching lab; a patient environment lab; and a rehab gym.
