Lone Star College-Kingwood, Humble Area Assistance Ministries to host mobile food distribution events

Throughout the summer, Lone Star College-Kingwood and nonprofit Humble Area Assistance Ministries will host several Coyote Cupboard food distribution events.

The first event begins at 1 p.m. June 1 at LSC-Kingwood’s Parking Lot A, 20000 Kingwood Drive, Kingwood, according to a May 24 news release from LSC. Future food-distribution events will be held at 1 p.m. at the same location on June 15, June 29, July 13, July 27 and Aug. 10.

The event is being held to address the immediate food needs of students, employees and the community, said Kristen Johnson, director of student diversity and equity at LSC-Kingwood, in the news release.

“We knew that food inequity existed in our community pre-pandemic, but we know the need for food is even greater since COVID-19 continues to impact many families financially,” Johnson said.

Individuals will receive non-perishable food items and water. Depending on availability, fruit, vegetables, eggs, bread and hand sanitizer will also be distributed.

According to the release, there are no restrictions on who can receive food, but registration is limited to the first 30 people who sign up for the event. Those interested can apply online at www.lonestar.edu/mobile-food-pantry-request-form.htm.
