In honor of the city of Humble’s Founder’s Day and the Humble Museum’s 50th anniversary, a joint celebration will be held Sept. 12 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Some context
In 2025, Humble City Council officially established Sept. 14 as the city’s Founder’s Day, as previously reported by Community Impact. This year’s celebration marks the first event to honor the newly created holiday, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Humble Museum. The city of Humble was founded in 1886 by Pleasant Humble, while the Humble Museum was established in July 1976.

“We are so fortunate that we have such a rich and distinctive history, and my goal in establishing Founder’s Day is to help raise awareness of all the events and individuals that were a part of our earliest beginnings ... all those that served and sacrificed to make Humble a great place. We stand on their shoulders,” Mayor Norman Funderburk said.
The celebration
Throughout the celebration, attendees will be able to tour the Humble Museum, view new displays in the lobby of the Charles Bender Performing Arts Center and visit with local historical groups. In the green space near both buildings, attendees will also be able to view classic cars, purchase food from food trucks and listen to live music.
Festivities will also include a scavenger hunt, during which teams are encouraged to dress in their “Humble best” and solve riddles to find and document 14 locations across Humble to compete for first, second and third place. The scavenger hunt will run from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m., and teams must register by Aug. 24.
Additionally, the Humble Beautification Committee’s annual ornament for this year features a special design commemorating the Humble Museum’s 50th anniversary. The ornaments are $12 each and available for purchase at the museum gift shop.
