Humble ISD trustees approved the appointment of Position 7 trustee Michael Grabowski to serve as board president during the June 9 board meeting.
The details
Grabowski, who is taking on the role following Position 6 trustee Marques Holmes’ year-long stint, thanked the board for the appointment.
“I’m just very proud that I have been successfully selected as your new president,” Grabowski said. “I'm humbled for this promotion, and I don't take it lightly.”
Grabowski is now set to serve as board president for a one-year term.
What they’re saying
After being appointed, Grabowski thanked Holmes for his service to the board and the district.
“You set a high bar, Mr. Holmes,” Grabowski said. “I hope to do the same. I want to take your bar and raise it.”
Holmes said he believed the board was in good hands under Grabowski’s leadership.
“It has been a pleasure over the last three years working with you,” Holmes said. “I see the level of intensity and sincerity that you have, especially over safety and security.”
Position 2 trustee Robert Scarfo echoed Holmes’ sentiment.
“Mike, I just wish you all the best,” Scarfo said. “It's not an easy [job], and you know that, but I know you're definitely up to the challenge.”
Also of note
In other business, trustees unanimously voted to change the start time of regularly scheduled meetings.
“This will move the start times of the regular meetings to line up with our special board meetings by moving them forward one hour,” Grabowski said.
With the change, Grabowski said regularly scheduled board meetings will now begin in closed session at 5 p.m. and move into open session beginning at 6 p.m.
